Library

The Institute’s totally computerised library caters to the academic and research needs of the faculty, staff, research scholars, trainees and students of the Institute through subscription to prime e-journal packages: ACM Digital Library and IEEE ASPP Online Through these subscriptions, library users have full text access to more than 4 million research articles including journal and conference papers. The library also subscribes to BankInfoSecurity published by Information Security Media Group (ISMG) that provides access to latest news, blogs, interviews, white papers, webinars, etc. in the area of banking technology with a focus on security. The requirement for articles beyond these packages is met through purchase on pay-per-view basis.

The library also maintains an exhaustive collection of books along with over 200 periodical titles in print, 150 email-based newsletters, and a selective collection of videos, Computer Based Training (CBTs), lectures by faculty of IITs, photo albums and other materials (both in print and electronic media). Library users have access to full text archives of most of the print journals. The Institute conducts a number of Executive Development Programmes and the course material is also made available in the library in print/digital form.

An additional 300+ journals/magazines that are available free on the net and reflect the mandate of IDRBT have been identified and their URLs are integrated with the library catalogue.

Development of a Selective Collection of Literature

The library collection, which is being continuously augmented and updated, reflects the mandate of the Institute. The major subject areas include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking, Financial Networks, Cloud Computing, 5G, Internet of Things, Open Source, Quantum Computing,  Distributed Ledger Technologies, Digital Payments, etc.

The acquisition includes both conventional and non-conventional documents. Library has registered with most of the publishers for advance intimations on release of new titles in the above subject areas, which helps in identifying and procuring relevant titles on time.

Development of a Digital Library

To keep the library users up-to-date with the developments and trends in the area of banking technology and related aspects a daily full-text bulletin, with latest news and features selected from newspapers, e-mail newsletters and Google Alerts, is compiled and posted on the Institute’s Intranet. All the documents in the daily bulletins are achieved and indexed through Greenstone Digital Library package and made available 24×7 in a virtualized environment. The library keeps news and features archives since 2005 with more than 1,00,000 documents indexed. The software allows searching the archives by title, file name and words/phrases in the document text. Boolean search is also supported by the software.

A query on the WebOPAC retrieves a list of books and other materials available in the Library in print or electronic form along with a list of resources on the Internet.
