The Institute formed a CISO Forum exclusively for Urban Cooperative Banks (UCB) in the year 2021 and the first meet of the Forum was held on May 06, 2021.

The latest meeting of the UCB CISO Forum was held on March 04, 2024 and 48 CISOs from various Urban Cooperative Banks participated.

Dr. Rajarshi Pal, Faculty, IDRBT, highlighted the benefits of cyber drills and IB-CART for the Banking Sector. Shri Avinash Kadam delved into the realm of IT Risk Assessment and Mitigation, emphasising the pivotal role of digitisation. He also highlighted the escalating threats, vulnerabilities, and information security risks and suggested mitigatory measures.

Smt. Arundhati Sinha, DGM, DIT, Reserve Bank of India, provided insights into the criticality of Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery strategies, stressing the imperative of meticulous planning and management. Various disruption scenarios were deliberated upon, including pandemic situation, communication breakdown, cyber-attacks,  human error, alongside recovery strategies.

Dr. Dipanjan Roy, Faculty, IDRBT, presented a comprehensive overview of the 35th Cyber Drill conducted in February 2024. Shri Darshan Shanthamurthy from SISA delved into Forensics Readiness, discussing the RBI Cybersecurity Framework  and illustrated forensic cases using different scenarios, such as MDR detecting MFS brute forcing, insider supported ransomware attack, ransomware embedded in application code, etc. He emphasised the pivotal role of log source coverage and elucidated the significance of use cases in bolstering forensic readiness.

Thereafter, Dr. Rajarshi Pal spoke on the various ways passwords can be compromised, including malware and phishing attacks. He also highlighted the incident involving the ZitMO tool and elaborated on the functional components of EFRM solutions. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants.
