Call for submissions for the
Fourth IDRBT Banking Technology Innovation Contest (IBTIC)

The Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT) is a premier Institution focused exclusively on Banking Technology. Established by Reserve Bank of India, the Institute works at the intersection of Banking and Technology, focusing on research and development, which is useful for the Indian Banking and Financial Sector.

We cannot live in today’s world without electronics, information, and communication technology. Banking is not an exception. India has leapfrogged into the era of innovation in banking by adopting the latest in technology. Today’s digital age and hyper-connected environment requires banks to re-invent their business continuously, and banks are maintaining pace with latest technological developments. Forthcoming years will be no different for the Indian banking sector; there will be growth fuelled by innovative initiatives by several stakeholders in the banking ecosystem.

The Institute was organising the IDRBT Banking Apps Contest (IBAC) for the last two years. The scope of this contest was limited to Apps. Based on the experiences and feedback received from the contest as well as the Banking Sector, the Institute felt that the scope of the contest needs to be broadened to cover not just the Apps, but all the innovations in the area of Banking Technology.

Accordingly, in order to bring out the innovations happening in the area of banking technology, the Institute is organising the fourth national level IDRBT Banking Technology Innovation Contest (IBTIC) on 12th April, 2019 at IDRBT, Hyderabad.

The objective of IBTIC is to identify and promote the innovative ideas from the best technology talent in the Indian Banking and Financial Sector.

Call for Submission

Participation is being asked from individuals, banks, industries and academia to submit innovative ideas and solutions for the contest. The scope of the submission covers the entire technology gamut which has direct influence in banking and financial services.

Format of the Contest

Participating teams are required to submit a write-up on their proposed innovation highlighting the underlying technology, novelty, and its impact in the banking sector by February 10, 2019 to ibtic@idrbt.ac.in.

A few teams will be shortlisted based on the applicability and quality of their submission. The shortlisted teams will be asked to present their innovations in front of an elite panel consisting of Senior Bankers, IT Professionals and Academicians.

Participating students, if any from shortlisted teams, will be reimbursed Third AC (subject to submission of a valid identity card from the educational institution] to and fro rail fare by the shortest route to attend the event.

The Subject of the mail should carry “Submission to IBTIC 2019”. The body of the email should contain the payment details (NEFT reference number and date of transaction). Also, please attach the NEFT receipt along with the email.

Registration

Teams have to register on or before February 10, 2019. The Registration Fee is Rs. 2000/- per team. Pay the registration fee using NEFT. Please save the bank transfer receipt for future reference. Bank account details have been given here:
