Certifying Authority

IDRBT is the Certifying Authority (CA) for the Indian Banking and Financial Sector, licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities, Government of India. The IDRBT CA issues digital certificates for use by RBI, Banks and Financial Institutions for their systems and officials authorised to participate in the INdian FInancial NETwork (INFINET) and National Payment Systems. IDRBT CA is the first CA in the country to implement Time Stamping and OCSP services.

The IDRBT CA has issued over 3,00,000 Digital Certificates to the Indian Banking and Financial Sector. These certificates are used by Banks and Financial Institutions to exchange electronic messages between banks ensuring Authenticity of User, Data Security, Integrity, Verification, Non-repudiation and Confidentiality.

Recently, the IDRBT CA had deployed new robust, standards compliant centralised management of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authority (CA) Solution for Digital Signature Certificate Lifecycle Management (Certificate Manager, Certificate Revocation List, Online Certificate Status Protocol and Timestamping). The new solution incorporates latest features to enhance the operational convenience of lifecycle management of Digital Signature Certificates, better user experience, demarcation of roles and responsibilities, while complying to common criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 (EAL4). The certificates generated by IDRBT CA also comply with latest X.509 standards.
