Cyber attacks can cause a significant setback for any organisation operating in the cyberspace. Cyber attackers or hackers are always trying to gain and retain access to crucial/sensitive resources of organisations through cyber attacks such as Ransomeware, Phishing, Man-in-the-middle, Denial-of-service, Zero-day exploit, etc.

Ethical Hacking is one of the popular approaches to combat cyber attacks by minimising possible vulnerabilities in an organisation’s infrastructure. It is a process of discovering vulnerabilities present in the applications, systems, policies, infrastructure, etc., with the due permission of the concerned authorities. Ethical hackers follow all the similar steps that a hacker follows but lawfully.

Given the ever-increasing attack surface, the demand for Ethical Hackers is surging exponentially across sectors. The objective of this certificate course is to enable and develop talent that can facilitate and maintain a cyber-safe environment that is resilient against cyber attacks.

With a view to address the significant and urgent demand for talented people with expertise in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security, the Institute announces a Certificate Course in Ethical Hacking. It is a unique course designed to provide the basic concepts of Ethical Hacking to a pool of talented UG/PG-level students and make them explore and delve into this very interesting area.

Spread over five months and offered completely through the online mode, the course will provide essential learning inputs related to different steps, phases and processes of ethical hacking and cyber attacks.

Course Curriculum

The course will spread over the following four modules, which would be covered in the first four months:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Ethical Hacking and Cryptography
  • Module 2: Penetration Testing: Reconnaissance, Scanning, Enumeration, Gaining Access
  • Module 3: Sniffing, SQL Injection, DoS
  • Module 4: Malware, Virus, Worm, Trojan, Fileless Malware

The four modules, covered through two classes every week (after 4 pm), will be followed by a one-month project. The course will be conducted by the Faculty of the Institute as well as External Experts. Since the course is focused on learning skills in ethical hacking and gaining hands-on experience in ethical hacking, the course will include a significant amount of self-learning. The course material will include reading material, pre-recorded lectures, etc. There will be an Online Quiz at the end of each module and all participants are required to submit a project report and present it.

Candidates with a keen interest in Ethical Hacking and currently pursuing their UG/PG in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, Cyber Security or equivalent with 75% marks or above (upto the previous semester / term).
