To keep the library users up-to-date with the developments and trends in the area of banking technology and related aspects a daily full-text bulletin, with latest news and features selected from newspapers, e-mail newsletters and Google Alerts, is compiled and posted on the Institute's Intranet. All the documents in the daily bulletins are achieved and indexed through Greenstone Digital Library package and made available 24x7 in a virtualized environment. The library keeps news and features archives since 2005 with more than 90,000 documents indexed. The software allows searching the archives by title, file name and words/phrases in the document text. Boolean search is also supported by the software.
A query on the WebOPAC retrieves a list of books and other materials available in the Library in print or electronic form along with a list of resources on the Internet.
The IDRBT Library has implemented Koha 3.12, an open source Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) as part of migrating from legacy Oracle-based TLMS application. All the modules are tested and the library activities including Acquisitions, Circulation, Serials Control, etc., are now managed on Koha.
The OPAC was customised to suit the requirements of the library users. A "New Arrivals in the Library" window was added. Additional triggers were also added under "More Searches" option of Koha that automatically picks up keywords from the displayed titles and search in IEEE, ACM and INFORMS Pub. Suite (all subscribed by IDRBT) and Amazon (US/UK) to provide results in the order of relevance, from the respective databases/portals.
The focus of the IDRBT Library is on keeping the user community up-to-date with latest trends and advancements in the area of banking technology through:
