The rapid proliferation of various delivery channels in the form of Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, ATM, etc., is increasingly exposing banks to new risks such as identity theft, hacker attacks and other security threats. These are issues which are not confined to any one country but are global in nature given the widespread advances in computing and internet technologies. The Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security (CCS), serves as the "one stop" resource centre for all Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, tools, literature, and expertise for the banking sector.
The Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security was inaugurated by Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor, RBI & Visitor, IDRBT on August 02, 2013.
The objectives of the centre include:
The Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security manages the Indian Banks – Centre for Analysis of Risks and Threats (IB-Cart) and the Institute's Chief Information Security Officers Forum. The centre also regularly conducts Cyber Drills for various banks and trains bank personnel to deal with cyber attacks.
The work being carried out by the Centre for Cyber Security was reviewed on July 06, 2017 and the Centre was elevated as Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security on September 01, 2017.
